I wrote a short story prequel for The Thousand Names called “The Penitent Damned”, a fun adventure piece which will hopefully give you a taste of the world. It’s up at io9 today!
In the past few weeks I’ve been gearing up for the release of The Thousand Names, so I haven’t been blogging much. Expect a flood of stuff after July 2!
And, while we’re all excited about the release, I’d like to take a moment to show off the covers for my middle-grade fantasy The Forbidden Library. Check it out! (Click through for big versions.) Here’s a GoodReads link with a bit more info. It releases in April 2014, so there’s obviously a lot more to come!
My piece on how to engineer fantasy societies to be a bit more egalitarian is up at World Weaver Press.
SF Signal asked a bunch of authors (including me) to talk about what makes a good action scene, and who’s good at writing them. Take a look!
Nick Sharps writes a very kind review at SF Signal.
Today I’m writing about (one way) to approach writing about war as a fantasy author.
Today I am interviewed at book review blog Civilian Reader.
The second half of my post on The Fantasy Language Problem is up.
More guest blogging! This time on “How I Became a Gamer (And a Writer)” for Powell’s Geek Week.
